Rules
The contest will run all week, and you can do several things to earn contest points and increase your chances of winning. For every contest point earned, your name will be entered once more into the pool (e.g., if you’ve earned 18 points, you have 18 chances of winning).
You can win points by:
1. Buying a book early in the week. I’m trying to create a surge of sales to boost the book in Amazon’s ratings, so I’d like to encourage people to purchase as soon as possible.
Buy a book on Monday = 5 points
Buy a book on Tuesday = 4 points
Buy a book on Wednesday = 3 points
Buy a book on Thursday = 2 points
Buy a book on Friday = 1 point
2. Buy more than one book! You get one extra point for each additional book you buy.
Buy additional books = 1 extra point per book
3. Tweet the following message each day of the week. Duplicate posts per day will be counted as one post.
Tweet about the book = 1 point per day, possible 5 points over the course of the week
4. Share this post on Facebook. Be sure to tag me (@K.M. Weiland), so I can find and count your posts. You'll need to "like" my page in order to tag me. Duplicate posts per day will be counted as one post.
Share on Facebook = 1 point per day, possible 5 points over the course of the week
5. Mention the contest and the book on your blog. Be sure to email me the link, so I can give you credit.
Blog post = 3 points
Note: Because of shipping costs, I’m sorry to say the contest will be limited only to U.S. citizens. My apologies to all my international readers!
Winners will be announced Friday, September 30th.
Good luck to everyone in the drawing, have fun, and thank you for helping me celebrate the launch of Outlining Your Novel!
Story by K.M. Weiland

I just purchased my copy of the book. Great launch ideas here. I wish you much success this week!
I just ordered my kindle copy! can't wait to read to see how this affects my writing goal for this next novel. For the first time, I'm going to attempt to challenge myself to write from some sort of outline/plot-ish kind of thing instead of my usual pantster way. Some could say my pantster ways have served me well, but, I'm ready for something new - a challenge. I firmly believe we should never stop growing and trying new things! Excited!
Fantastic idea. And I'll spread the word even more when I find out how awesome your book is. :)
I've set Tweetdeck to tweet every day this week! I'm so excited!
Thanks so much, gals! It's going to be a fun day!
Wish I could buy the book, but I can't afford it just yet (almost earned a $10 amazon card though, so I hope to buy it soon).
Great! I hope you enjoy it whenever you're able to purchase it.
Although I understand why you'd limit it for U.S. citizens, I'm still very disappointed I can't participate! What a great contest! I'd also love to get the Kindle version but unfortunately Amazon discriminates us non-US citizens (too :p), and I have to pay nearly twice the price (happens for all Kindle books, actually).
Ah well :<
@Manon: I absolutely apologize that the contest had to be limited to U.S. citizens. It wouldn't have been fair to ask those who donated prizes to pay international shipping. But I *hate* leaving all my fabulous non-U.S. friends out of the fun. :( You can still sign up for the hourly Mp3 drawing, though, if you'll send me your receipt.
CONGRATULATIONS!! This is a fabulous giveaway! I re-tweeted your tweet before realizing I had to copy and paste from the blog post. Hopefully that still counts as an entry.
Definitely counts! However, I should clarify that the entry into the contest requires a book purchase. The other activities are just to boost your chances of winning.
Big congrats on the book release! I just bought my copy and am spreading the word!
Congratulations on the new release! After reading the Kindle sample, I knew this would be invaluable in helping me plan out my first novel; which is the phase I'm currently in. Thanks for the great resource! I've also retweeted this and posted on my blog's Facebook page. For some reason though, I couldn't tag you in the Facebook post no matter what I tried. I hope it still counts for a point. Either way, great job!
Thanks, guys!
@Ross: A little troubleshooting: First, make sure you've "liked" the page. You have to be a fan in order to tag a fan page. Second, check your privacy settings. If the settings aren't set to "public," the tagged post won't show up on the fan page.
Bought a couple of copies for some writer friends--can't wait to get this awesome information out. ;)
Thanks, Braden! Don't forget to send me the receipts, so I can enter you in the contest. You get an additional point for every book you purchase.
Congrats on the new release, Katie! Looks good! Can't wait to read it. :)
Thanks, Lynnette!
What an awesome contest. I hope your sales soar! : )
Thanks, Beth! It's done really so far. Currently, #1 in the Writing Skills department of the Kindle store!
I tweeted, blogged, and bought the book! 8 points for me!
Whoo! Thanks, Katie! Good luck in the contest!
I fixed it! I can comment on embedded posts again! WooHoo. But that took way to long to figure out. Thank heaven for computer geeks who point me in the right direction. :)
Anyway, thanks for this awesome contest!
Yay! Computer problems like that are always frustrating.
I found this link on another writer's page and added the book to my Kindle. I'm a "Seat of the Pants" writer, so I look forward to having tools for outlining right on my Kindle. I will be sharing these tools with others in my writing group as well. Thanks and what a great idea for book recognition too.
Thanks, Crystal! I hope the book inspires you in your writing!
Amazon just sent me the message that my copy has shipped!
Yahoo! I hope you enjoy it!
