1. A personal relationship with Christ, who chose me, saved me, and gave me the passion and skill to live out this crazy writing life.
2. Family and friends who not only put up with my writerly weirdness, but who support me and cheer me on every single day.
2 ½. (Also that said family and friends forgive me for occasionally threatening them with machete and flamethrower when my writing time is interrupted.)
3. The sharp smell of new books and the peppery smell of old.
4. An overflowing bookshelf.
5. Laptop computers and wireless keyboards
5 ½. (And, by extension, the fact that I don’t have to write my tomes via quill pen and ink.)
6. The ease and convenience of a Kindle.
7. Music, music, music.
8. That all-the-air-sucked-out-of-my-chest feeling whenever I get an especially good idea.
9. Dreams that take me far from familiar shores.
10. The magic of a good movie.
11. The voices in my head.
12. Dictionaries, thesauri, and encyclopedias.
13. Microsoft Word and yWriter.
14. The story I just wrote, the one I’m writing, and the one I’ll write next. And next. And next.
15. Wordplayers!
Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope your day is beautiful and blessed.

I'm thankful for:
Jesus' sacrifice, His mercy and grace
That He gave up His Heavenly throne for me
New laptop
My house
My writing office, and the beautiful view outside my office window
Louie, my new-to-me car
Music
Cats
Friends who want me in their lives
Imagination
Books, and a mother who read to me when I was a child
Kindle for PC
That I have tomorrow off. :)
Good list! I'm thankful for my critters too. They've inspired a wealth of story ideas.
I'm thankful for;
Jesus, and his priceless gift
Friends and family, even if I sometimes have conflicts with them..
Writers, such as you.. who tell me I'm not alone in my struggles
Fresh country air... nothing beats that
Merry Christmas y'all.. may your writing days be happier than ever before.. :D
Awesome list, K.M. I'll add to your list by saying that as I was looking at my shelf of writing books earlier today (happily having some new ones to add to it), I was thinking about how thankful I am for you and other writers who share such helpful writing advice with people like me who are still working toward that goal of publication and beyond.
Thank you, and Merry CHRISTmas!

@Gideon: Good point about the conflicts we inevitably have even with those whom we love most. They're not fun, but they are valuable, since they not only help us grow as people - but also as writers.
@Beth: Aw, you're very sweet! It's really been driven home to me this year how thankful I am for the many wonderful writers - yourself absolutely among them - with whom I get to interact on the Internet every day. Ya'll are a great bunch of people!
Merry Christmas. Since it is that time of the year, yes I'm thankful for Jesus. I especially thankful for my hubby and son's good health, our business is still plugging away making a profit even thought it isn't as much as last year. I'm thankful for my 4 cats who give us unconditional love. And of course, I'm thankful for all my books. I agree with Beth. I'm thankful for you and other writers who provide so much wisdom to us aspiring writers.
Gotta be thankful for books! I can't imagine a world or a life without them.
Like you, my #1 is your #1, at the top of the list! And that's what Christmas is all about. I'm definitely grateful for that. :) I'm thankful for a lot of things in my life, and look forward to what the new year will bring. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year 2012 to you!
Yes, another of the great things about Christmas is that we have both the opportunity to look back on the past year and to anticipate what's yet to come. Can't wait!
